Cardiology

Mayflower Healthcare Alliance; delivering excellence in healthcare

Cardiovascular conditions account for a significant proportion of GP and acute hospital referrals in the UK.

Clinicians at Mayflower Healthcare Alliance are able to assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of heart and circulatory system conditions, including disorders of the heart, blood vessels, heart rhythm, blood pressure and related cardiovascular diseases.

If you experience any changes in your heart health or symptoms such as chest discomfort, palpitations, or shortness of breath that you feel aren’t normal, you should seek advice from your GP. Should your GP suspect a cardiology-related condition, they can refer you to us, where you will be assessed and treated by our expert team of cardiology clinicians.

How it works...

1. Initial Appointment

All patients referred to us will be allocated an initial appointment, where your clinician will diagnose your condition and determine the most effective course of treatment.

Before being referred to the Community Clinics for Cardiology, you will have discussed treatment of your condition with your GP. Once you have been referred to us, you will be invited to come to one of our clinics. All appointments will be confirmed in a letter or appointment card with date, time and any additional information required.

You will receive a full consultation with an experienced Clinician upon invitation via appointment card or letter. This will include the diagnosis of the underlying condition and the subsequent management and treatment.

When visiting us, please bring along with you:

  1. Your appointment letter or appointment card

  2. A list of any questions you would like to ask

Your first full consultation is typically 15-20 minutes and the Clinician will advise on whether any procedures are required or follow up appointments to monitor progress and the appropriate frequency.

Where appropriate, the treatment process could then continue with a follow up appointment and in some cases a minor procedure.

You will be advised at the initial appointment when you will need to re-visit the clinic and an appointment. You will also be given an appointment card or you will be sent an appointment letter in the post.

Mayflower Healthcare Alliance value equality of access to our information and services.  To ensure we meet your communication needs please inform the Patient Information Centre of any special requirements, for example; braille, large print or an interpreter or chaperone for your appointment.

If you have to cancel an appointment, please give us as much notice as possible so that your appointment can be given to someone else. Please contact us or email.
